Art I 3D Installation Projects

This week in our art I classes, students have been exploring social issues through the creation of 3D installation projects. Here are some pictures of their progress:

The above two pictures are of a project on bullying. The mannequin represents a bullied student, and the torn clothes show how words can tear people down.

The tree and money seen in the images above represent the lumber industry and how harmful it is to our environment despite how lucrative it may be. Eventually the money will be the leaves of the tree and they will be on fire.

This is a large ball of recycled worksheets and homework assignments. It will be a kinetic mobile representing how "done" these students are with school.

In this installation, students are making a statement about bullying. The shattered pieces of the mirror represent how bullying can shatter an individual's self-image.

Art I Principle of Design Projects

This week in Art I, students identified the principles of art and then used them to create art projects that focused on a heavy use of specific principles. They were given the choice between four different projects: Unified Seasonal Collage (unity), Movement in a Comic Strip (movement), Varied Forms of Balance through Quilt Making (balance), and Advertising with Emphasis (emphasis). Below you will see their progress on these projects.
